“I am outside Kolkata and have moved Calcutta HC”: Abhishek Banerjee skips CID appearance again
The internal crisis within the Trinamool Congress deepened on Tuesday as veteran four-time MP Satabdi Roy openly revolted against the party. Roy, who has worked closely with Mamata Banerjee since 2009, stated that the Trinamool chief has changed completely in recent years. Expressing her disappointment, Roy remarked, "Didi badal gayi thi," explaining that while she shares an emotional bond with Banerjee, she had to break ranks because the party leader's changing attitude began hindering actual ground work.
Roy explained that one of the biggest reasons behind the rebellion is that Mamata Banerjee has become completely inaccessible to her own lawmakers. She alleged that the TMC chief changed by allowing only a select group of people to have direct access to her, while the voices of other long-term leaders were left entirely unheard. Roy revealed that whenever lawmakers tried to raise local problems over the last few years, they were aggressively silenced and ignored by the top leadership.
Apart from the lack of internal democracy, Roy raised serious questions about widespread corruption running from the lowest to the highest levels of the Trinamool Congress. She defended her decision to speak out now, stating that the situation has finally become clear and impossible to ignore. Roy emphasized that she does not need political protection to shield her reputation because her image is perfectly clean, and she is leaving purely to serve the people of her constituency.
